There were large amounts of fun to be had at the Berkley Front this Friday. We played a show celebrating Max and Margaret's birthdays. It was a nice little cherry on top of a wholesome Thanksgiving. For some, the best part of the night was the $2 PBRs- for myself however, it was the fact that my grandparents came to a smoky bar to see me play (Nani, bring earplugs next time!). Since Light in August was the only band, we beefed up our set with some new originals, a Wilco tune that we'd just learned, and of course, an explosively indulgent yet awesome drum solo by Stew. The funniest part of the night happened about 20 minutes after our performance when we spontaneously got back on stage with our friend, the rapper Black Mic to do an impromptu hip-hop free-style/dance extravaganza. While we stopped to catch our breath, Rachel got up on stage and started shredding on the flute. Stew didn't miss a beat: he grabbed the mallets are started playing interpretive, ambient percussion to the flute. The crowd loved it (and I swear it wasn't just because they were thoroughly intoxicated at that point). Thanks to all who came!
